Bishop Morris O. Jenkins Jr.
Bishop Morris O. Jenkins, Jr. serves as the Jurisdictional Prelate of the historical
Texas Southeast First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. He is also Senior Pastor of both
Ellis Memorial Church of God in Christ and Evangelist Temple Church of God in
Christ in Houston, Texas. He is the Director of Higher Ground Community
Development Corporation, a non-profit organization that assists lower-income
residents in the East Houston area with not only their day-to-day needs but is
concerned with their spiritual well-being also. He possesses over 30 years of
progressive and executive ministerial experience.
He previously served as Bishop of the Republic of Peru Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction,
Coordinator and Workshop Facilitator for the Church of God in Christ Leadership
Conference under the direction of Bishop Jerry W. Macklin, Vice President of
Charles E. Blake Ministry Initiative for Small and Rural Churches, Jurisdictional
Secretary of the Texas South Central Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction under the
leadership of Bishop Prince E. W. Bryant, and Executive Board Member of the
Annual Ministers Conference at Prairie View A&M University, his alma mater.
Bishop Jenkins attained many other accolades and has accomplished much during
his time in the ministry. As a scholar-practitioner, Bishop Jenkins has developed
expertise in church growth and development, transformational leadership, and the
systematic spiritual development of new believers.
